Part of what makes Recovering The Past so special, is that it reflects the impact of war experienced first-hand by so many of its visitors. We don’t want you to just read the exhibition’s side of the story, we want to hear your story too.

Blank templates of vintage postcards travel with the exhibition. We encourage people to pen their thoughts or memories to a family member who became a victim of war. In this case, visitors to the Lockyer Valley display have done just this. As is poignantly demonstrated in the lower card, a mother has used the opportunity to message her son who is on active overseas service at the time of writing. Her contribution to the exhibition’s mission is significant; war is not something confined to the past.
